Happy World Mental Health Day from your favorite crazy.
Give someone who needs it a hug today. If you think you might need help, get some. The brain is a complicated organ. It’s ok to see a mechanic when it gets out of tune.
Talk to someone you trust today. Or be the someone they trust, and, listen.Call someone out on their bull****. Mental illness is real, and it’s not something you can just stiff-upper-lip your way through.
Whatever you do today, don’t hide. You have nothing to be ashamed of.
“We have to start talking, whether it’s 2, 200 or 2,000 people, and how awkward and scary it can be, when you start talking, you start the dialogue and you start disproving those myths”
- Alicia Raimundo, Mental Health Superhero
I hope to see more youths in Singapore to take on her footsteps and be a Mental Health Superhero.
BoysTown has live chat help times scheduled, email help, and the traditional hotline. If you’re a teen or young adult facing a crisis (or even just a really crappy day) they are happy to help, or just listen and give comfort.
They also have some journal pages you can print out to work on problems you’ve having on your own.
If you are in physical danger, feel like hurting yourself, or are currently in the middle of something really really serious, I strongly recommend you call them rather than wait for help online. Their number is 1-800-448-3000.
You are not alone. There is help.
