Creepy things

Facebook and LinkedIn both constantly want me to add my therapist as a friend.  We have no other connection to each other besides therapy.  Creepy.

(It’s probably because at some point she let them access her email address book.  I haven’t done that since I started seeing her, so.)

Creepy Barnes & Noble is creepy

I just got an email from B&N saying that they’ve bought the Borders account information for all Borders reward card members, including “the subject matter of [my] DVD and other video purchases.”  Gah.

I don’t think I ever actually bought a video from Borders, but I’m still unbelievably creeped out by this.  I don’t like stores keeping this kind of information indefinitely and without telling me.  Amazon lets me delete my history, and I like that a lot.

There’s no point in me opting out (I really can’t think of a single DVD I’ve bought from anyone other than Amazon or Best Buy - I only own like 10 of the things) but man.  Creeped out, I say.  Creeped the heck out.

Another one bites the dust

I just emailed my stepdad.  He already kind of knows about stuff (after all, he was paying my medical bills for a long time.)  I think my “who I tell and who I don’t” plan would be significantly more coherent if I’d known for sure I was going in sooner than 4pm today.

By the way, I kind of own the “partial hospitalization” tag right now.  I don’t know why there’s so little out there - on Tumblr, on the web, whatever - about this.  My city isn’t that big, and there are dozens of people enrolled, and it’s super short-term, so that represents something like a few hundred people a year when you count the other hospital.  Just for plain vanilla serious mental illness, mind - this doesn’t count the PHPs for substance abuse and the dedicated eating disorders programs.  We have to be looking at a significant percentage of the total number of people with these illnesses in town.  Surely some of them would want to share?

(And check me out.  Responsibly queuing this one up for 4am.)
