The restored gospel of Jesus Christ is a way of life. It is not for Sunday only. It is not something we can do only as a habit or a tradition if we expect to harvest all of its promised blessings. “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap” (Galatians 6:7).
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.
There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.
God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.
The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted.
The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
Come, behold the works of the Lord, what desolations he hath made in the earth.
He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire.
Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

Faith in Every Footstep, Mormon Tabernacle Choir
With faith in every footstep, we follow Christ, the Lord;
And filled with hope through his pure love, we sing with one accord.
Most of the girls in each issue of the New Era are dressed appropriately for church (or are obviously in athletic or work clothing.) The September issue is a bit different than normal, because it’s focused on the Personal Progress and Duty to God youth achievement programs, but there are still lots of pictures. The girls start in the “Special Issue: Personal Progress” section.
A good visual guide for what’s acceptable at church.
Immodest clothing includes short shorts and skirts, tight clothing, shirts that do not cover the stomach, and other revealing attire. Young women should wear clothing that covers the shoulder and avoid clothing that is low-cut in the front or the back or revealing in any other manner. Young men should also maintain modesty in their appearance. All should avoid extremes in clothing, appearance, and hairstyle. Always be neat and clean and avoid being sloppy or inappropriately casual in dress, grooming, and manners. Ask yourself, “Would I feel comfortable with my appearance if I were in the Lord’s presence?”
(I’m trying everything I can think of to keep myself from going back to bed.)
I grew up in a confusing religious environment. My dad and mom were members of a secular humanist “church” when I was born. When they split up, my mom eventually got together with a friend from high school, who had in the interim become Mormon. They got married, and she joined the church. Thus was begun the Great Challenge of Demeter’s Childhood.
How Firm A Foundation, April 2010 General Young Women Meeting (Choir and Congregation)
The soul that on Jesus hath leaned for repose
I will not, I cannot, desert to his foes;
That soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake,
I’ll never, no never, I’ll never, no never,
I’ll never, no never, no never forsake!
(lyrics)
My concentration is pretty much why I’ve stopped for the day. It’s very hard to focus on what they’re saying, even when I do things like color to try and improve my ability to do it.
But I got through three! That was like, 45 minutes! Plus three songs was almost the whole length of a Sacrament meeting (after you take out the administrative stuff.) So I’m calling it a victory. And now I have Conference music on for the rest of the day, so, woot.
Ack, that sounds so fun! My most daring act of fashion in church is to go with black instead of suntan. Heh.
once-she-decided-to-fly replied to your post: NylonsI generally wear brightly colored knee-high socks to church. :p It’s my splash of “me,” I guess. But I do always wear ankle-length skirts also, so only a few people catch a glimpse of the socks. Last week’s were glow in the dark! ;)
